D Salle Boxing Tourney Draws Joliet Fans and Competitors
Seven hundred fans attended the De La Salle gym for 25 preliminary bouts in the Catholic Youths boxing tournament. Fifty one amateurs weighed in as Joliet matches narrow to eight champions to represent Joliet in the midwest championship at the Chicago stadium next month. Emmett McGuire led the show with helpers from each parish including Packey McFarland.

Tragedy near Wilmington. Father killed by son's accidental pistol
