City to abandon condemned fire and police stations

Joliet Will County Chest Opens City Teams Drive Tonight

Bob Wallace leads the division with section chiefs W Franklin Barrett Tom Feehan ratson Healy and Vance Cummings. George O’Brien opens the meeting and hands to Wallace the master of ceremonies duties. Gene Pozzi and Bill Carneghi promise surprises as the orchestra from the American Federation of Musicians performs. The drive aims for a fair share contribution from every contacted person to fund 18 agencies, with a yardstick of 25 cents weekly or 1 5 percent of income above certain brackets. End of item notes numerous division leaders and the Employes and Initial Gifts groups advancing the campaign.

Trainmen Convene on New Rules in Chicago Meeting

The Brotherhood of Railroad Trainmen opened a three day session at the Pick Congress hotel in Chicago to decide on work rule changes. About 160 trainmen representing 200000 employees from all railroads attended the opening as President W P Kennedy said announcements are unlikely until coordinated with four other operating brotherhoods.

No multi level garage planned at Cass Ottawa corner

The site of the former Providence High School at the southwest corner of Ottawa and Cass Streets will become a parking lot. Patrick D. Fahey owns the property and will turn it over to Kroger next to the site. Blacktop work is due to finish today.
