Residents rally against Joliet bridge plan at Save Our Homes meeting

They formed a Save Our Homes committee, circulated 150 petitions, and warned about 500 homes demolished and a $2.5 million drop in assessed tax value. The exact route remained undetermined after a public hearing. Mayor Hennessy voiced concern and called for community input. John Freund, the consulting engineer, outlined arguments for a south side bridge while noting limited civil defense value.
