Editorial urges consolidation of elections and supports Will County judges

Joliet High to Graduate Largest Class in History

The Joliet Township High School will award diplomas to about 430 graduates plus 103 junior college sophomores at a commencement in the school auditorium next Thursday at eight. Rev. Charles W. Gilkie of the University of Chicago will speak, marking his first local appearance. Commencement week features include the senior play Tuesday, Class and Ivy Day activities Wednesday, and the graduation Thursday evening.

Berman Joins Spectator Staff as Advertising Manager

Robert Bobby Berman, formerly on the Los Angeles Examiner advertising staff, becomes advertising manager at The Spectator. He has newsroom experience in Milwaukee and Chicago papers and once led the L G Barnes circus advertising efforts.

Hill and De Selm Edge in Will County Judge Contest

Voters head to polls next Monday to elect circuit court judges in the district and decide whether the Will County Tuberculosis Sanitarium should remain open. Incumbent Republican Frederick A. Hill and Arthur W. De Selm are favored over Democrats Ed win L. Wilson Claude N. Saum and W. R Hunter. Joliet residents likely back Hill and many favor closing the sanitarium, though The Spectator urges a Yes vote to keep it operating since hundreds have recovered there since 1926.
