Editorial on Mob Violence and Rule of Law

Joliet hosts a three day Golden Gloves event at Catholic High Gymnasium with numerous out of town entrants from Elgin West Chicago Kankakee Aurora and Chicago area promoters announce teams from Moris Braidwood Coal City and Dresden Heights along with local clubs. Women may attend two sessions free while tickets sell quickly for the midwest amateur boxing showcase.

Rain or Snow Predicted Tonight Across City

The federal weather outlook warns of rain or snow this afternoon and evening. Yesterday’s ice and sleet may recur, making sidewalks extremely slick and walking hazardous. Several falls were reported as residents navigated icy sidewalks and crossing bridges in the city.

Joliet to Seek Signatures for New Sewerage System

Petitions signed by 360 supporters will be presented to County Judge George N Blatt Sr to back a plan for a Joliet sewerage disposal plant. A spring general election may be set for Joliet residents to voice views on the project organized by the Greater Joliet Sanitary District.
