Wraith Promotes Fire Captains As City Seeks Budget Cut

Mayor William Hennessy and the commissioners plan to trim the 1934 city budget below last year’s $600,000 spend. Commissioner Robert Wraith announced promotion of fire captains Andrew Pesavento and Thomas Clemens to assistant chiefs to boost HQ staffing. The plan caps yearly salary increases at $370 for both men. The mayor notes little chance of raises for other employees, aims to restore regular pay days soon, and recalls a prior $1,400,000 budget with $125,000 in costs cut. Continuous work on the budget starts Tuesday.
