A Saturday night gathering at Mr. and Mrs. Frank Sheltren two miles northwest of town drew over forty friends. The couple hosted in two cleared rooms with dancing and a substantial repast served by the hostess and Mrs. Wm. Brummage, highlighting the Sheltrens as hospitable hosts. A burro team caused a brief scare but was captured without injury.
The Embroidery Club held officer elections at last Thursday’s meeting. President is Mrs Stella Abernathy, Vice President Mrs Beulah Tyler, Secretary Mrs J Floersheim, Treasurer Mrs Wm Bruimmage. The club aims for a more profitable year and remains a permanent Roy organization.
The Roy Literary Society issues a winter challenge to Solano Mills and any other debating club in the region to meet them. The club invites organizations feeling quarrelsome to respond with the chosen topic and reasonable notice.
Local chatter claims a regular seven car passenger train will pass Ray daily soon with a possible dinner stop. The item is part of a larger anticipated boom for the area, and the discourse ends with a caution that quitting now would be unwise.

Lucas Sandoval twelve year old son of David Sandoval was killed when a runaway wagon team toppled him at his father's Carrizo ranch on Monday December 5. A separate note lists D D S H S Murdoch of Springer visiting Roy December 18 to 26 for dental care and invites local residents to bring tooth troubles. Bob Holmes left for Santa Rosa New Mexico Tuesday to enroll in school for the winter and will be missed by local girls.
Albert Siviera Vere Urquhart and Nep of Albert were in Roy Monday night on business seeking a local arrangement or contract.
Irving Hammond, a well regarded worker, holds a claim just north of town and visits daily. He plans a vacation but can share valuable insights on dry-farming that many locals should learn from.
KR W Boulware of Pleasant View stopped by the office on Tuesday leaving a bank redeemable souvenir and reading the Spanish American. The visiting Democrat was a candidate for delegate to the constitutional convention and received an almost unanimous vote locally.
Last Friday night featured a well attended program. Prof Johnson read a controversial Pome and is warned not to reveal the author. The debate on taxing church property was won by Miss Bessie Wood and Prof Kerns by a margin of one. Judges were Mrs Abernathy Bob Grunig and Granville Kitchell. Kitchell allegedly voted wrongly after being rattled.
S Martinez of Carizo and his daughter in law Mrs D M Martines escaped injury in a runaway Saturday when a buggy neck yoke broke and the horses bolted into rocks. Mrs Martinez held a young baby as all three suffered bruises but walked home two miles.
Preparations for a Roy Christmas Tree in Bushkevitz hall include a double header with Santa Claus and modern appliances. Prof Johnson will request contributions toward the expense.
A P Duncan departed for Texas on Wednesday and will be away for an undetermined period, with no further details provided on the reason or duration.
Cattle buyers Messry J F Pedot Panemegio Vidona and Andras Lucero from Trinidad traveled in a livery auto with driver Norton to Trinidad Lucero's ranch after arriving Tuesday evening. Norton reported a four hour return drive in his B M F 30, having covered 8 500 miles this season with no repairs.
