Mr Andrew Whitley of St Louis visited the Courier Journal with a race relic from Kentucky s early days a long bore rifle made by Jacob Young Virginia in 1744. The weapon once belonged to Whitley s grandfather a companion to Daniel Boone. The relic includes a powder horn belt and a verse carved by William Whitley. Whitley retrieved the gun after a long chase, refusing offers up to 500, and kept the horn and belt from Crab Orchard Kentucky.
