William E Curtis of the Chicago Record Herald extols the School of Mines at Socorro for practical training in mining engineering. He notes it provides thorough modern mining methods and broadens into general technical education with a capable faculty.
One third interest in the patented Pacific mine in the Cooney Mining District Socorro county New Mexico offered for sale. Also notes requests for green cottonwood cords and a roundup of local notices including school books stock theft pursuit by Captain Fullerton and a social birthday party in town.
Santa Fe plans to place Rio Grande division track above high water mark regardless of cost. Socorro to be on main line with Belen cut-off for fast through trains. Dell Rid dell receives the Allis-Chalmers scholarship for the graduating class at the New Mexico School of Mines. The award includes four months study with a 150 salary and full access to the Allis-Chalmers factory facilities in Chicago Milwaukee and Scranton. Professor Brinsmade named mining chair. a veteran of major mining regions and author in the field. Fair plans and public notices follow with events at Farmington and Albuquerque venues including a ball to support city improvements and a grand display of local Indian events.
