Winchester Killing Near Bruton's Ranch in Socorro County
Cornett is jailed in Socorro awaiting a preliminary hearing before Judge Green after allegedly shooting Cesario Urban near Bruton's ranch. Urban died about an hour later. Cornett said Urban fired first while using Urban's bridle, then Cornett returned fire. Sheriff Leandro Baca and City Marshal Henry Dreyfus investigated, with the hearing scheduled for Friday the 27th instant.
