City Council Adopts Cemetery Lot Transfer and Tax Resolution
At Monday’s meeting Ma Cooney introduced a resolution to deed 32 acres to two city cemetery associations. The mayor’s second resolution allows city obligations to be paid with city taxes and licenses. Other measures cut salaries of the city attorney and street commissioner and authorize park improvements. Services at Presbyterian church announced with pastor Rev. Taylor urging cross denominational attendance.

Freight Wreck Delays Train Near Socorro
Six Freight Care Ditched. A southbound passenger train arrived twelve hours late in Socorro after a wrecked freight train five miles north caused the embankment to soften from acequia water. Six cars slid into a ditch but no injuries were reported.
