A grand ball will be held at the I. O. O. F. Hall Challis on Friday night September 28 1906 by Taite's Orchestra. Tickets supper extra one dollar fifty cents. Everyone invited to attend.
Cal C. Lawson of Custer Idaho announces candidacy for the Democratic nomination for Representative in the State Legislature for Custer county. He submits his bid subject to the decision of the Democratic nominating convention on August 21, 1906.
Pioneer Bob Boyd announces his candidacy for Probate Judge at the Democratic convention. He invites farmers and miners across the Rocky Mountain region to vote on November 6, hoping the nomination falls to him as Idaho’s trail blazer.
Delegates chosen at Chal lis primaries on Sept 17 to attend the Republican county convention include Jonathan Job John Stephens E P Wilson John Q Adams Chas Funkhouser Arch Howell Dr C P Huston Joseph Horton Wm Elder and nine others. Forty two votes were cast with most delegates favoring J C Fox for Senator Arch Howell for Sheriff T J Paul for Assessor and J H Horton for Probate Judge.
Idaho Republican nominee Governor Frank R. Gooding is billed to speak at Odd Fellows Hall tonight at 8 and again in Mackay tomorrow. The talk is expected to include his views on his administration and his claim of being the best Idaho governor, a point he has touted before in Blackfoot.

Mrs L L Sweet of Wallace wrote the poem The Stricken City of the Golden West which George Jaberg Music Company of Cincinnati will publish once proofs are corrected. The piece is praised as touching and stirring with California disaster as a theme. A prominent English conductor seeks European rights and Professor Herrmann calls the music excellent and the words beautiful. Wallace cited as home of the author.
Idaho voters will decide six constitutional questions in November. They cover allowing counties and towns to incur public indebtedness, authorizing bonds for railroads and internal improvements, extending county commissioners’ terms to four years, enabling general law for county officers, granting tax exemptions for future rail lines for up to ten years, and capping state property taxes at ten mills unless approved by voters.
