Challis reports a busy week with school openings, teachers arriving, and a Teachers Institute ball. A surveying party from Boise works on the Butte and Boise railroad route, while a Salmon road accident injures several Institute members but spares none seriously. The JONG Institute convened in Challis from August 28 to September 1, a five day session uniting Lemhi and Custer counties.
