The route would cross Seafoam country along Rapid river to Thunder Mountain, about 40 miles by air, with a 50 to 60 mile road at roughly $1000 per mile. Haunt Henderson Shot Over Horse Trade Near Mackay
Sunday evening A K Henderson known as Haunt Henderson was fatally shot fourteen miles from Mackay in Custer county during a dispute over a horse deal. John N Pettigrew says Henderson threatened him with a knife. Pettigrew fired his 45-70 rifle, striking Henderson in the groin. Pettigrew surrendered, both newcomers on Lost River. Henderson hailed from Richmond Utah. Pettigrew, a married man with a bakery stint at Houston. A coroner's inquest found Henderson died from a gunshot wound inflicted by a gun held by Pettigrew.
