U S Land Office Hatley Idaho October 1 1902 announces application for patent to Lyttleton Price Hatley Idaho for three lode claims Valley Creek Creston and Deep in Yankee Fork Mining District Custer County Idaho. Descriptions include claim extents 1500 1600 1800 feet with disputed bearings from discovery and areas totaling 6 1/1 acres. Notice asks adverse claim filings within sixty days to avoid bar under law.
Joint resolution submitted to Idaho electors seeks to amend section of Article 18 to empower the Legislature to pass health and safety laws for workers in factories, amelerS, mines, and ore reduction works. The question to be voted at the next general election asks approval of the amendment and recognition of the Legislature's power to enact such protections. Department of State certifies the act and transmission to electors.

Provo Utah October 15 St V LeSieur of Provo is credited with drawing capital to Utahs opal field on Panther creek about 45 miles northwest of Challis He carried over a thousand gems from his last visit and plans systematic digging soon The opals vary in color from black blue green pink yellow and white and range from 1 to 140 carats This discovery could allow LeSieur and associates to influence world opal markets Salt Lake Herald reports potential control of supply and later fame as opal king.
