Stanley Lake in Stanley Basin Idaho is praised as one of the world’s most beautiful lakes. The image highlights a snow capped mountain backdrop and shows a mirage effect of the lake. Postal cards featuring this picture are offered for five cents each.
The Yankee Fork country buzzes after W G Sweet and Jimmy Dearley discover a rich gold vein on Horse Hill east of Jordan Creek. The Runover claim, tied to Wisconsin and West Dickens ground, shows two feet of vein with high gold content and samples yielding 7,063 dollars and eight dollars per pan. Sweet and Macbeth acquire a third interest and option two thirds, signaling a major local mining push and renewed confidence in regional ore resources.
Notice is given that Corning Mining Company, of Custer Idaho, has applied under the 1872 act for a patent to 1254.24 Hoewr feet on the Blacke wle lode in Yankee Fork Mining District with surface ground up to 600 feet. Description includes corner posts, bearing trees, and survey data in the Fourth of July mill site and adjacent lodes. Also notice of a water diversion permit for Big Creek in Custer County with 40 acres irrigable, before Saloma J. Cleveland on December 7, 1907.
Local physician and druggist Dr. Collister P Huston died suddenly from peritonitis on Thursday night Oct 10 at 9 45. He was 35 or 36, born near Boise City, survived by his wife Mrs Huston and parents Chief Justice Joseph Huston and his wife. His remains were sent to Boise for burial, Dr Charles Baker to oversee Challis drug store in the interim.
The Lemhi county Teachers Institute will be held in Salmon Idaho from October 21 to 25 with State Superintendent Belle Chamberlain in attendance. George A Axline president of the Southern Idaho State Normal will teach, and Eva Morrison a Wylie Training School graduate will direct Primary Work. An invitation is extended to teachers and patrons of Custer county to attend. Ersep Gooprien Watkins, Co Supt. Lemhi Co.
