On the 19th a party including Sid Roberts A S Cotter John Altham and Mr Wells left Challis to open a wagon road to Singiser and likely to Three Forks on the Thunder Mountain route. They expect traffic soon with wagons horses and a road t oe mats i 1 machine. Once to Three Forks a 50 mile trail to Thunder Mountain will exist. The Thunder Mountain Stage Co plans six horse coaches from Mackay via Challis to Singiser by April 1 with F W Vogler as manager, promising a top equipped line.

Killed in Lucky Boy shaft at Custer mine

James Courly, working his first shift as carman, was killed Monday night at the Lucky Boy mine 700 foot level in Custer. The loaded car sped down the incline and fell 300 feet with him and non several others nearby. Mr Dearly, the carman he replaced, died trying to stop the car. Courly, about 60, had lived in Yankee Fork for 20 years and leaves a large family.
