From Maclay, present terminus, stage to Challis daily sixty miles. From Challis to Singiser or Three Forks by wagon road forty miles. From Singiser or Three Forks to Thunder Mountain by a good trail. Total distance about one hundred forty miles.
Parties traveling to the stage venues will find this hotel a handy stop. Drivers board here with prompt departures. Located one door west of the drug store, the storefront includes a visible drugstore nearby.
Notice to the public describes Mrs M Jose providing first class meals and lodging northwest of R N Hull Co store in Challis Idaho. Rooms are large with good beds and a fine table. Board and lodging available by week or month at reasonable rates.
On the 19th a party including Sid Roberts A S Cotter John Altham and Mr Wells left Challis to open a wagon road to Singiser and likely to Three Forks on the Thunder Mountain route. They expect traffic soon with wagons horses and a road t oe mats i 1 machine. Once to Three Forks a 50 mile trail to Thunder Mountain will exist. The Thunder Mountain Stage Co plans six horse coaches from Mackay via Challis to Singiser by April 1 with F W Vogler as manager, promising a top equipped line.

March term of Challis District Court opened March 10 and adjourned March 21 with Judge Kirtland Perky. Criminal docket includes Ar thur Wilcox assault case dismissed. Raum and Bersons robbery case verdict not guilty for Raum. Pettigrew murder reduced to voluntary manslaughter with ten years. Dick case set. Morgan assault case deadlocked and court adjourned. Civil docket covers several disputes including Big Lost River Water Case continued, mortgage foreclosure, multiple div orces granted, and numerous cases continued for term.
James Courly, working his first shift as carman, was killed Monday night at the Lucky Boy mine 700 foot level in Custer. The loaded car sped down the incline and fell 300 feet with him and non several others nearby. Mr Dearly, the carman he replaced, died trying to stop the car. Courly, about 60, had lived in Yankee Fork for 20 years and leaves a large family.
