Bonds Defeated In Custer County Election
In a countywide bond vote held June 26, Custer County narrowly rejected the bonds by 285 to 518 after a 2 to 1 requirement. Commissioners Campbell and Ellis counted the ballots in Challis on June 30, noting the defeat by 52 votes. Proponents argued Forest Reserve funds could cover the debt over ten years without raising taxes, while opponents cited personal tax concerns.
