Lost Packer road bond defeat spurs toll plan for Challis Loom Creek link

After four months of lobbying Custer county voters rejected a bond that would fund about 33 miles of Challis to Loom creek road via Parker mountain. Lost Packer Mining Co representative E G Rowe says a toll road and development company will be organized to build and prospect the route, with county purchase possible within five years. The project promises year round traffic, regional growth, and mining opportunities, amid claims savings and profits improve haulage costs. The Lost Packer mine shows copper values rising, with tunnels and levels expanding as plans move toward smelting.
