A countywide sale offers deep discounts on a wide range of footwear and apparel items. Men, women, and children can buy leather boots, dress shoes, opera toes, kid and calfskin styles, coats, shirts, sweaters, and hats at substantially reduced prices to clear stock for new merchandise.
A large old time ad touts a full line of underwear and overshirts along with gloves mittens dress goods fancy goods notions mens and boys suits duck lived coats olsters pants vests overcoats household goods dishes glassware groceries rubber goods felts jewelry silverware and many more items. It invites readers to visit to buy and save money, noting prices cannot be quoted for all items.
A notice invites Challis sportsmen to meet Salmon Rod and Gun Club at Wm Plenniken’s ranch on Pahsamaroi for a friendly rabbit hunt contest on January 21 1899. Challis accepts to clash on February 1 1899 with teams limited to six men.
Richard Bray of Custer was brought to Chalcis on Tuesday evening by K McKenzie and Rod McGee charged with insanity. He was jailed by Sheri Bowles and later judged insane in Judge Finnell's court. Bray has lived near Custer about two years, sometimes violent, but often appearing sane. Custer county now has five patients in the asylum, ranking fourth in the state.
