Short Line to Build Idaho Extension Seeks Houston Challis Route
The Salt Lake Herald reports the Oregon Short Line plans a wide Idaho railroad expansion. Surveyors have proposed an initial Houston segment with a direct Blackfoot to Houston alignment, then Challis and Salmon City as next steps. The project promises new freight traffic, mining and farming development, and potential conflicts with the Idaho Midland route along Salmon River and Blackbird copper districts.
