Idaho Republicans Declare Free Silver and Strong Protection

The Idaho Republican platform endorses free coinage at 16 to 1, protection for American industry and labor, and specific support for sheep husbandry. It denounces what it calls unfriendly policy toward key local industries and backs strict enforcement of law, equal suffrage amendments, and loyalty to the Republican State ticket. Amos Overton and others were in Challis over the weekend while Ira Barker departed for Houston and Chris Morler Jr. arrived from Yellow Jacket. The Fourth of only mine reported ore in lower tunnel, and a daily wagon road service between Salmon City and Challis is planned with potential stage routes to boost North South Idaho traffic.
