West End Prosperity Boosts Local Mines and Jobs
The west end of the county is unusually prosperous this season with the Oxarna Co mill running on its own ores on Custer Mountain. Amalgamates and concentrates are produced as ten more stamps will be added. About 22 men are employed, some on tunnel and wood contracts, and Mrs. Charles Barrett runs the boarding house. The Golden Sunbeam two mills crush ores from the Daisy vein on Jordan Creek toward Loon, led by Gen’s Manager C. E. Gable. Montana Tunnel Co and J. A. Czizek push the long tunnel toward ore, a long hoped-for boost for all locally engaged.
