McFadden Mine Resumes Under New Idaho Managers
In Yankee Fork Idaho the McFadden mine started up Monday under manager Alex Kleupfer and Geo Walburn. Geo Sawyer left for Salmon on a visit after more than a year hoisting at Lucky Boy. James Kerr and Fred Holcomb reported a stampede of miners into the Thunder Mountain area. Thomas Covert, early Cast or county settler, died July 1 at Thunder Mountain aged about 51.

Ed Nickerson writes from Anvil City Alaska July 3 1899 describing a rough voyage from Seattle to Dutch Harbor and St Michael July 29 Anvil City two weeks old with tents lumber houses moss ground driftwood shortages and high prices lots sold for 21 200 to 31 500 wages 10 to 15 per day provisions and lumber costs noted. He plans a six day prospecting trip and mentions harborless landing and July sun at midnight with many women running tents businesses. He expects to write more after reaching the coast.
