Boarding house notice offering first class meals and lodging northwest of R N Hull and Co store in Challis Idaho. Describes fine large rooms good beds and a well supplied table with best market offerings. Rates listed for weekly or monthly stays by Mrs M Jose.
The Stanley Basin mining district near Stanley and Kelley Gulch shows plans for a large scale operation. A dredge boat, Stanley Dredging Company, is under Wm. Burroughs and Chicago capital, with work planned this Spring after overhaul. The Valley Creek gold quartz group, owned by Judge Price, Darlington, and Hastings, will start the 20 stamp mill when weather permits. Challis and Sturkey’s five to eight claim hydraulic ground yields about 3 weeks work with bedrock at 9 feet and average daily returns of $20 per man, plus rifle-powder sized gold and occasional nuggets. Basin supports cattle and sheep as well as mining, with several other mines including Lucky Strike, Murphy, Bowen, Rapp, Mountain Girl, and Boise City syndicate claims.
A damaged excerpt blends a spring poem about nature with a report on Frank Tully of Custer who, while visiting Idaho Falls, was arrested in the murder case of rancher Joe Brown. After a preliminary hearing five witnesses placed him elsewhere, and the court discharged him. The piece criticizes local officials and Idaho papers for branding him guilty without evidence.

The Odd Fellows program at Fellows Hall Challis marks the Fiftieth Anniversary of fellowship in America on Friday afternoon April 24 at 2 o clock. It features orchestra, oration by Judge Jas M Stevens, several recitations and songs by Mabel Jose and Maude Jose, with Ruth Cameron Eliza Jones and Daniel Stephens on the program.
