Mary A Boyd dies after long illness in Challis

Mary Ann Boyd wife of Lockhart Boyd died at her Challis home on Tuesday morning April 5 1904 at 6 30 of consumption aged 52 born in Belfast Ireland came to the United States as a young woman married in 1885 and moved to Challis with her husband She leaves an aged husband four children and many friends The funeral was held at Odd Fellows hall and grave services were conducted by Silver Leaf Rebekah Lodge she was a pioneer of Custer county The obituary notes numerous local notices and community happenings following in Challis locale

Fegan Case Tried in Challis District Court

The State of Idaho v Ed L Fegan for the killing of Burrell Rooa near Custer last fall was tried in Challis District Court. A jury returned a verdict not guilty of first degree murder. State prosecutors H D Rugers and County Attorney Adamson argued for the state, while Hon No 1 Clark of Mackay defended Fegan. The case was fiercely contested though evidence was read.

Robert Taylor Found Dead in Hatcreek Cabin

Pioneer horse grower Robert Taylor known as Hob Taylor, about 60, was discovered dead in his Hat Creek cabin in Lemhi County by John Altham. He lived a solitary life and likely died two months earlier before being found, with signs of decay on his face and hand. The coroner has been notified.

Reduced freight on ores from Mackay to Salt Lake smelter

The Oregon Short Line railroad will issue an order setting freight at 4.00 per ton for ores valued under 30.00 per ton moving from Mackay to the Salt Lake smelter. The rate matches the Wood River points grant and will benefit shippers with this ore near the line.
