Council held a special meeting to discuss sidewalks for the PWaA project on Diagonal Street. Property owners urged higher village cost share with a proposed 1 dollar per running foot payment by owners. total cost about 2 60 per foot.
The local P T A opened its year with the Junior-Senior High School group meeting in the auditorium led by President Victor Graver eau. New teachers were introduced by Superintendent Von Garver, and aims include library access seven nights, Band Mothers club formation, and boosting membership.
Mr and Mrs Cletus Hardgrove on W First street welcomed a girl Thursday morning. Mr and Mrs William Brown on Grant street welcomed a girl on Saturday September 17. Mr and Mrs Frank Wolfe on North State street welcomed a boy on Thursday September 22 at Wadsworth Hospital.
A son born to Mr and Mrs F L Frank on September 14 at Wadsworth hospital. Harry Hires and Iris Hiers are vacationing this week at their cottage on Long Lake in Harrison Michigan.
Walter Bamberger of the Orrville Rotary Club spoke on Hitler and his annexation plans at a luncheon. He described living in Austria from 1938 to 1935 and argued Hitler has Germanic peoples intimidated and could annex much of the region. He recounted the Austrian annexation events and the Dolfuss assassination with a lively floor discussion.
Funeral services were conducted Sunday at Canaan for Riley E Bowman 31 who died after an operation at Lodi hospital. He was an employee of Ohio Boxboard Co. He is survived by his parents Mr and Mrs Riley Bowman two sisters Iva and Bernice and two brothers Virgil and Iva.
Presiding Judge Persy H Stev ens of Akron announces the Court of Appeals will sit in Wooster to hear four cases on Wednesday September 28.
Marshal Charles Heffelman helped identify a man found dead along a Northwestern railroad in Chicago. He received a telegram from John Sullivan stating the deceased was 21, 5 feet 6 inches, with a distinguishing eye, and that a man matching the description had escaped from Apple Creek Institution about a month earlier. The man was named Martin Bowman, son of Mrs Grace Clark of Wadsworth, and burial arrangements were made after Mrs Clark traveled to Chicago to retrieve the body.
Ritiman High Indians prepare for a Friday night matchup with Dalton under new floodlights. Injuries from Orrville game were minor, and coach Young adds three newcomers Tompkina Schaad and Hillty as he works to improve blocking. Dalton counters with a large experienced squad led by Berg Goudy and Wie Farren with transfer-in from Marshallville boosting depth.
John Allemond, manager of the Tisher Dairy near Sterling, plans a two month visit to Switzerland this fall to see relatives near Bern. He left at age 21 with two sisters, two brothers, and his father, later naturalized, and now returns to explore changes over his long absence while his wife Ann and their daughter Lexi stay engaged in local church and community activities.
The Eyrestone Park Methodist Episcopal Church choir from Akron returns to Rittman’s Milton Presbyterian Church for a 7 30 p m concert on Sunday September 26 at popular request. The program includes Processional Hymn antiphons scripture prayer and multiple anthems. Former Rittman boys Woodrow Marpster and William Schhip are among the choir.
The divorce case of Mabel Yodheim of Rittman Ohio and Philip Yodheim, 70 Last Street, is set for Saturday in October at 1 a m in the Court of Common Pleas. Weygandt and Ross represent the plaintiff.

Funeral services were held Tuesday for Peter O. Musser 58 from Oak Grove Church with Rev Gari officiating. Burial followed at Oak Grove cemetery. He died Saturday after a railroad accident near Smithville while helping his nephew Ray Muaner. He was born October 11, 1881 in Milton township. Survivors include several siblings and numerous nieces and nephews.

The fire and automobile insurance business of Benek stem insurance agency was transferred to James Stem and Mag A Stem at 24 Portsmouth Ave Grandview, under the name Hennicstem Insurance Agency. Mr and Mrs Stem are licensed to service the existing fire and casualty accounts written by Benek.
A National Consumers Tax Commission report cites Richtman and Tittman residents facing high per capita tax loads. It claims Ohio residents contribute about 501.85 million annually to local state and national taxes, absorbed through higher prices on essentials and goods. The commission stresses hidden taxes raise living costs and burden families, with taxes now equaling 25 percent of earnings nationwide.
