More than 1,400 employees at the Ohio Boxboard Co received the army navy E award for production achievement at a 10 am ceremony in the Rittman plant. Chester G. Wise of Akron chaired the event attended by about 2,000 as Crile General Hospital’s WAC color guard posted colors and the Rittman High School band played America. The celebration drew record crowds for Labor Day with fireworks and a vaudeville show, sponsored by Ohio Boxboard and Ohio Salt Co, featuring Harold Nelson's band.
