Doylestown Wins Final Tourney Game At Home Field

In Doylestown on Sunday October 2 1921 Doylestown defeated Rittman 7 to 5 to claim first money in a postponed tournament final. Milford struggled early. Eddie Oaks steadied the mound and paced Doylestown with strong pitching and timely hits. The crowd backing Doylestown fueled a late rally but Rittman nearly tied it in the ninth before the final score stood.

Akron Chamber Visits Rittman Industries Parade

Members of the Akron Chamber of Commerce, about one hundred strong, toured Rittman on a special B and O train. They toured The Ohio Boxboard Company and The Ohio Salt Company plants, received salt packets as souvenirs, and returned to Akron praising the town’s factories and hospitality.

Miracle Woman Mrs McPherson Secures Canton Hall For Healing

The Miracle Woman Mrs Aithee Semple McPherson arrives with a party of Pentecostal followers to Canton Ohio for a three week Healing Service at Canton City Hall. Afternoon attendance was light but evening crowds reached four thousand with about seventy five seeking healing. Attendees come from twenty states and include witnesses of miraculous cures. Rev Charles Fredman will speak on healing at the U B church next Sunday.

Hospital Fund Over The Top In City Campaign

In Skittman Savings Bank director’s room a hospital appropriation drive report shows about $3300 in cash and over $1200 in pledges. The canvassing continues with citizen contributions planned and a goal date of October 26 in Wada worth for the hospital’s drive. An organized Hospital Association will supervise terms of the agreement and privileges of the hospital.

Obituary for David Burkholder of Rittman and Smithville

David Burkholder born February 17 1862 died October 2 1921 aged 60 7 15 was married to May M Amstutz on December 9 1884 and had five living children. He joined the Brethren church near Smithville at 18 and later remained a faithful member of the Progressive Brethren church of Rittman. Survived by wife two sons Charles and Perry three daughters Minnie Overholt Ojivo Firth and Florence Blough one brother and three sisters, numerous grandchildren and friends. He moved from Smithville to Rittman about eight or nine years ago and worked as a carpenter then at Ohio Boxboard Co as a ten mater before illness led to death. funeral held at home on Third Street and Oak Grove Church nearby.

Death of A. Fritz in Barborton Leaves Noted Resident Remembered

Longtime Barborton resident A Fritz aged 68 died at his home in Yarborton after illness. He served as treasurer and council member when Barborton was a village and belonged to the Masonite lodge. Interment was at Lakewood cemetery. He left Rutnis years ago and was linked to the American Strawboard Co. in Barborton and other ventures in the Magic City. He left a widow and four sons Howard Roy Frank of Barborton and Claude of Lansing with relatives across multiple states.

Rittman residents led by L. J. Gigandet announce a second Florida land trip for upcoming month on arrival in Cincinnati meeting owner Dennis who controls 17 000 acres. Purchases noted include Duke Smith sons Sigler and 40 acres, Frank Jones 20, and L Olgandet 20. Arrests for Speeding in Rittman Prompt Fines Total 44

Three prominent Rittman citizens Hobert Hummel Chas Eggeman and Clyde Adams were arrested by Marshal Schorger on Monday after speeding home from factory work. They pled guilty before the mayor on Wednesday evening and each paid 14.80 in fines and costs totaling 44. The mayor warned a heavier penalty if found guilty again. Henry Long purchased the Frank Gruver farm in Milton township for 4850 from Sheriff Lautzenriser.
