The town elected Wm Shackleford mayor by a slim eighteen‑vote margin over John J. Wein as the council picked a new lineup. Shackleford’s vessel won the regatta by 18 knots after a dramatic sinking near the harbor.
About 50 neighbors gathered at Mr and Mrs J Steiner’s south of Rittman to husk eight acres of corn as a surprise for Mr Steiner who had been recovering from an October 24 gas well accident. The group served dinner and finished husking by two o’clock.
