Large turnout for off-year election at Rittman polls with a historic high in voter interest. Mayor and marshal races drew intense activity as precinct reports stabilized a close contest, with independent candidate Hamilton influencing balance and local officials reporting late-night counting.
Rittman defeats Dalton 14 0 to clinch the County League title. Knafton plunges for a first score, Bud Welly adds a 48 yard TD run, and MeAnallan boots the extra point to make it 14 0. Dalton scores late on a Wertz pass. Rittman now prepares to face Doylestown in a key rematch.
After a week off Rittman meets the Akron Barberton Merchants on home turf Sunday. The Akron Barberton club is cited as a top semipro squad in the region and is expected to entertain local fans with strong play. A planned game with Log Cabin of Doylestown was canceled last week and may be rescheduled later in the season.
Welker Baker, 64, a boxboard employee at Wadsworth hospital, was shocked at work Wednesday while throwing a switch. He contacted resistance plates as the circuit tripped. By 3 pm his heart and breathing were strong, he remained conscious but dazed. Mrs Baker lives in the Weiss allotment.
A few hundred milk producers face surplus with no outlet as Branigan’s group in Hartville discusses options. A cheese factory there, plus butter and ice cream, is eyed as a possible solution. A committee including BE Steiner and C A Gatehouse will investigate and report back to Branigan’s producers.
An all Wayne county Christian Endeavor rally will be held Sunday afternoon at Wonster Reformed Church. Rev. E S Hendrickson of Rittman will speak on What It Means to be a Christian. Miss Lucille Rupp of Rittman will lead devotions. The program is under Rev Hendrickson Arthur Caukshank Marian Richards and Mrs Grace Griffin.
During May to August 1933 the State Highway department paid 557 semi monthly pay checks totaling 12559.00 to workers, averaging 70 men per payroll and 22.55 dollars per two week period.
Report on a community campaign showing the drive exceeded its target by 500.00. Citizens joined in with slogans and praise for volunteers, highlighting unity and dedication to support local needs. The Rittman Democrats organize a permanent club to meet problems of all residents. Membership costs one dollar annually with cards valid to January 1, 1935. John Weinhay arranged for Senator A H Etling of Orrville to speak. Officers include Cliff Graff president and Ritterslee president with an advisory board of three others.
Roscoe Hershey won the ninth annual Jocal Prince of Peace declamation contest at the United Brethren church. David Fredrick placed second, with Doris Hoover and Laverne Harpster also noted. Hershey will represent Rittman in Wooster on December 3 for the Wayne county contest with the piece The Red Juggernaut. Judges were Hazel Harvey Doylestown superintendent Clarence Baker Barberton, and Kenneth Giffen Wadsworth High School.

The Modern Woodmen advertise Euchre for a dime at Hekuta on Wednesday November 15, open party begins at 8 15 p m Eva McCalla was divorced from Geo McCalla and restored to her maiden name Eva Peake M Calla non divested of dower. Len London of St Clairsville was brought to Wooster by deputies to face a charge of illicit relations in Rittman. Various property transfers listed including Peake heirs and church trustees in Milton and Chippewa townships.
