Operating levy fails in Rittman and Milton Township election

The half mill operating levy on Tuesday's ballot did not reach the 65 percent approval threshold. In three Rittman precincts the tally was 602 Yes and 534 No, with page 3 offering a detailed report of Rittman and Milton Township results.

Rittman Clears Obituaries For Matilda Wheeler and Clyde Stearns

Mrs Matilda Wheeler 51 of Ganyard Road died after a six year illness. Funeral at 2 p m Friday at the Presbyterian Church with Rev E S Hendrickson officiating. Burial in Rittman Cemetery. Survived by husband Edward Wheeler two sisters Mrs Nelson Beery Akron and Mrs Julia Quimby Wooster R D and brother Edward Gigandet Rittman. Also noted is Clyde Stearns 48 killed by an Erie freight train near the Main St crossing at Wadsworth. Funeral by A L Ebert, Rev Hendrickson, with burial at River. Stearns lived in Rittman 13 years, survived by widow Elizabeth daughter Annette mother in Kent and twin brother Clyde of Wade Worth.

Funeral services were held in Woodsfield Ohio for Charles E. Ott at 195 N State St with Rev Albert J Henry officiating. Burial followed in Woodsfield. He leaves one son J W Ott of Rittman.

Mrs Helen Fritz 58 Dies in Wooster Hospital

Services were held Wednesday at 2 p m for Mrs Helen Fritz of Rhinersburg who died in a Wooster hospital Monday. Rev Hendrickson officiated at McIntire Funeral parlors. Burial was in Wooster cemetery. Survived by husband Irvin a son H E of Andover Ohio and two sisters Mrs J H Dowd of Rittman and Mrs Gera Smith of Erie Pennsylvania.

R. J. Baird Services Held at Creston

Funeral services for Dr. R. J. Baird were held in Creston with many friends paying tribute. A long time Wayne County physician, he practiced for 62 years, 48 in Creston, and was active in Presbyterian, Odd Fellow and Masonic circles. Surviving are Emma his widow two sons Login Ann Arbor and Edward Glendale a daughter Mrs Mildred Ellis Pasadena two sisters Mrs Wade Bribie and four grandchildren. Burial followed at Creston.

Wadsworth Post No 1089 of the Veterans of Foreign Wars will hold an Armistice Party at 8 p.m. Monday, November 11. A floor show and dancing to music by Ollgf Shadrosk are planned. Tickets are 25 cents with proceeds split evenly between the Salvation Army and the Red Cross.

Sterling School Dedication Set For Friday

The Rev. John R. Williams will deliver the main address at the dedication of Milton township’s new $57,000 school addition Friday night. County Superintendent Ralph Hathaway and project contractors will attend. The wing adds a gymnasium auditorium with stage, two classrooms led by Miss Geneve Travis and Miss Josephine Zolinger, a new kitchen and dining area, domestic science space, and a landscaped front donated by the Milton Garden Club.
