Prof Clause presided at the Saturday school meeting attended by many. Judge Swartz shared early township history and promised to write for The Press. Band music was well received. In Wooster Forbes Alcock appears set to become mayor with a Republican slate. Cleveland reelects Mayor Baker by 2,250. Fusionists beat Tam many in New York City by 55,000. Wadsworth elects S. W Boyer as mayor and a citizens council.
The Rittman Chamber of Commerce banquet held at the Red Fivler featured a near full house of members and families. Wayne W Putnam, Wooster Daily News editor, provided entertainment with elocution and humor before an early train cut his performance short. The event, organized by a three member committee, was praised as a success and a positive sign for local social life.
A severe fire northeast of town consumed barns and a shed with silos, destroying farm implements and nearly all cattle and five horses. Mr and Mrs Stover mourn losses of livestock. total damage estimated at 11000 dollars with 7000 covered by insurance. Fire began about 1120 and residents saw flames by dawn.
Entertained Sunday at the Mills home were Mr and Mrs E B Mills Mr and Mrs H G Mills and family Mr and Mrs MB Mills and daughter Mr and Mrs Harry Halliwell and Miss Della Hite in honor of their son Ernest to Miss Edi Pierce of Mallet Creek They plan to live in Akron where Mills works in rubber.
