Voting locations remain as precincts 1 through 5. Precinct 1 Marion Reserve building, precinct 2 Sterling Town House, precinct 3 City Hall Fire Station, precinct 4 Hershey and Rohrer building in South Main Street, precinct 5 Marjon Reserve building.
Charles Stauch learned his brother Thomas was killed in a plane crash at 7 p m today in Andrews North Carolina. Stauch rushed to the scene while details remain scarce. Thomas ran a flying school in Columbus and had visited Rittman by air several times in the past six months.
Miss Gail Lance selects cast for the Junior class play The High School Mystery to be staged in the high school auditorium likely December 1. Cast includes Rose Wilson Leona Harmon Virginia Gebhart Evelyn Laumers Virginia Plahuta Jean Hessidence Russell Riggs Joseph McGorry Harry Snyder Pred Kamp Frank Webner Wade Mitford.
Charles Ruble claims a record size cabbage weighing 1514 pounds after pulling the vegetable from his garden Saturday. Neighbors note the rare find as local growers marvel at the exceptional harvest.
Weldon Spitler of Orrville pleaded guilty to reckless driving and drinking while driving after a collision at the Erie railroad crossing. He paid 475 covering damages to Russell Sheets of Rittman. Brilhart and Yarman suffered injuries. Yarman remained hospitalized. Deputy R V Fredrick investigated the crash.
Rittman High Indians overwhelmed Dalton 45 to 0 in county class B play for their fifth win. Tompkins opened with a 42 yard TD run. West Hilty and Riggs added scores as Rittman dominated with 11 first downs and strong line play. Rupp and Simonton connected on a 16 yard TD pass. Keating, Tompkins and West scored further in a game marked by Dalton penalties and multiple substitutions.
Mrs. Limie Wolfe of 488 Third Avenue has just received a blind reading device from the Institute for the Blind in Columbus. She announces her readiness to use the machine with community support, thanking Mrs. Paul Johnson and Miss Abe Collier for reading missionary books and assisting her during five years of blindness.
Rittman celebrated Hallowe'en Tuesday night with a Main Street parade by the Rittman High School band. Residents followed in costumes to the square for a giant bonfire and a dance at City Hall. Prizes were awarded for best costumes by judges Coach Tib Young and Mrs. Herald Miller. The event, sponsored by the Rittman Civic Association, drew strong attendance and featured community prizes from local merchants.
Rittman High hosts Canal Fulton under Friday night lights at the high school field aiming to avenge last year’s defeat. Orrville beat Fulton earlier this season, Weng er returns for Rittman and Trady expected to start. Bands perform at halftime. game set for 8 p.m.
A. T. Ebert introduces a new 1040 Buick ambulance car arriving Wednesday night in Loudon. The vessel features the Buick's largest chassis, 151 horsepower, and a rolled bed interior with attendant seats in the rear. It includes a siren and modern chrome fittings.
Virgil Mullen of Rittman faces $18 fine and costs after a Thursday night hearing for drunkenness and disorderly conduct. Marshal Heffelmass arrested Yankovich of Lodhi, with Mayor Baker noting the issues Wednesday night.
The Rittman Community Fund drive starts Friday November 3 with a goal of 41 500 and aims to finish by November 15. E M Welch chairs the effort and solicitors will conduct house to house calls while business readers are approached at workplaces. Separate funds for Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts exist, and donations may support either or both.
