Before a large crowd the Taylors defeated our local boys at League Park on Sunday. Turner injured his ankle, Halliwell and Dull assisted in the field, and Shelby led with home runs and four hits. Pitchers Shook and Owens held the locals to six runs as Akron fans cheered from the stands. Attendance 240.

A westbound B and O freight at Sterling derailed Monday night after striking the derail at 30 mph. The engineer awoke just before impact and escaped unharmed. Wreck crews from Akron and Chicago Junction reinstated the engine on Tuesday with only a severe shaking up reported.
