Community club offers embossed mugs for graduation gifts

The Athletic Booster Club sells Fighting Indians mugs at 2.25 each or 2.00 each when bought in a set of six. The Lions Club holds a broom sale Monday May 12 from 6 to 9 pm with brooms at 3.50 each. Other notes include donation drives for used eyeglasses, Mrs Ronald Marks recovering from heart surgery, and a visit by Japanese guests to West Hall fourth grade.

The Good Samaritan Nursing Home Center steering committee met at Wadsworth Mennonite Church on April 29. Treasurer Rev Vernal Lundeen announced gifts and pledges surpassing 520,000. Chairman Mick Clark outlined a major gift program with room or area naming and a living memorial plaque for donors. Rittman residents involved include Mrs Jackie Ball Rev William Leith Paul Mogler and Mr Clarence Kunkler.

Planners Split Over Church Lot Parking On First Street Park

City planners debated a First Brethren Church plan to pave part of First Street Park for a combined basketball court and church parking area. Opponents cited loss of shade and liability risks. final vote 2 yes 2 no with a tie-break by city manager.

Rittman Plans Events Past Present Future

The Rittman Bicentennial Commission unveils a year long, three part birthday program for 1976 celebrating heritage. Lindsey Williams leads plans to honor General Anthony Wayne and Martin Fritz while coordinating joint commemorations with Wayne County Michigan and Fort Wayne Indiana. The project seeks official Bicentennial Community status and reflects the Northwest Territory history and settlement.

Rittman Rotary Hosts Japanese Group On Exchange Visit

Six Japanese leaders visiting Ohio under Rotary Foundation Group Study Exchange met with Rittman Rotary members for dinner and a slide program. The group traveled from North Canton to Dover New Philadelphia Wooster and Newcomerstown, visiting PCA and other local sites before staying with Rotarians in Rittman. Leader Caz Maeda, 45, Kobe Architectural Research Agency president, heads the group. Others include Hisataka Kawashima 29, Isahei Co head. Takeshi Kawano 28, Ritsumeikan graduate.
