Rittman Registers for Liquor in Wadsworth Zone

Forms for liquor rationing have been available since Monday at Ohio retail liquor stores. State Liquor Director Don Fisher announced applicants must mail forms back to the store in their zone. Rittman Milton and Chippewa Townships are placed in the Wadsworth liquor store zone. Customers in this area must register and buy there.

Principal Willard H. Hauenstein of Rittman High School announces the honor roll for the fifth six week period. A 6th child, a girl, was born Thursday morning May 6 to Mr. and Mrs Walter Webb of South Second Street. On May 21 coupons expire for Mileage Coupon 5. By May 31 deadlines apply to G H J Food Stamps Meats E Stamp and Coffee Stamp 23 with these updates. Sugar Stamp 12 has a May 31 deadline and Shoe Stamp 1% faces a June 15 deadline.

Ban Pleasure Ride For B And C Holders

The Office of Price Administration ordered a nationwide ban on pleasure driving for about 10 million motorists holding B and C gasoline ration books. Four Castoria bottles were returned to Rittman stores by noon today after manufacturers warned that some laxative batches in the last 60 days might be unfit for babies and cause nausea. Beulah Halliwell of Sterling sues William Miller of Seville R D 2 for 15000 over an automobile crash on the Seville Sterling road on Nov 18 1942. Service Honor Roll May Jump To 518 This Week

With induction of Milton township men into the Army, the local honor roll rises past 500. Since April 15 seven names were added: Roger McGee Bill Keratetter Charles Keating Claire Rohrer Bill Oehler and two Rittman men serving with the Seabees. Two more Rittman men were honorably discharged. If all 14 scheduled for induction pass, the total becomes 518.

$300000 In Sight In Second War Loan Drive

Milton and Chippewa Townships work to raise 239000 in the second war loan may reach 300000. Ralph Krabill of The Rittman Savings Bank notes nonbanking sales total 164553.75, with a bank quota of 40000 and directors approving 125000 in bonds. FE bonds deducted from paychecks until May 8 could push the total to 300000.

Shirley Ziegler Wins Essay Prize In Georgia

Kratchen Scored 198 for Expert Rifle Marksmanship

Private Daniel M. Kratchen, son of Korey Kratchen of N. Seneca Street, earned an Expert rating in rifle marksmanship at Camp Joseph T. Robinson Arkansas during basic training. Mrs Flora Burger Dies At Doylestown Home

Flora J Burger born December 9 1867 near Marshallville died suddenly Sunday at 5 30 pm at her Doylestown residence aged 74 years four months and one day widow of John F Burger who died in 1949. Survived by three sons Alfred Cleveland William Mangisillon and Nathan at home four daughters Gertrude King Akron Jennie McClelland Doylestown RD Charles Heffelman Rittman and Elva Rohr Massillon three brothers Samuel Musser Barberton Joseph Marshallville William Rittman and 25 grandchildren. A large crowd attended the Only Holstein Association sale at Wooster Fairgrounds. First cows and heifers sold for prices including 490, 425, 350, 440, 375, 290, 400 and 380 dollars, the highest in about 16 years. Shade Tree Group Seeks Support Again

The Rittman Shade Tree Co aims to obtain financial backing from organizations this season to continue planting trees in public spaces lacking property owners. KOontz Nursery Wooster replaced deceased trees. city street crews will replace stakes while owners are urged to water trees in dry spells. The commission will fund replanting trees that die twice at the same location.

Louisa Grossenbacher Dies at Brother's Home

Louisa Grossenbacher, 56, died Sunday at 6 30 p m at her brother Edward's home five miles southeast of Rittman Chippewa township. She had lived there 40 years. Surviving are two sisters in Mansfield. Services were Wednesday at 2 p m at the Apostolic Church with burial in the church cemetery. Rev Noah Hartzler officiated. Ebert Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Induction in Akron for 49 Milton area registrants

Forty nine Wayne County men reported to the Orrville board for final physicals in Akron as part of a pending 1-A or 2-A induction. Eight volunteers listed. several are conscientious objectors. Reclassifications moved 28 men to 1-A for early induction, with names including Bee, Kounts, Ziegler, Stars ling, Hartzler, Miller, Lulkart, Amstutz among others.
