Up to Wednesday only 11 000 in Victory bonds had been sold in the Rittman district toward a 60 000 quota due by May 18. The Boy Scouts have solicited subscriptions but a campaign plan was not yet clear as of Wednesday night. Sterling reports a 24 500 quota met, and Wayne County totals near 400 000, with the county on track to meet its goal.

Fetter Returns Home With Prisoner Escort
Pennsylvania officer arrived Saturday and rode in a side car with 20 year old motor cycle thief suspect Charles Fetter back to Lebanon. Police Court Deals With Fortis Disturbance in White City
Mayor Shackleford presided Sunday over a police court session for Paiset Fortis charged with intoxication and disturbing the peace. Neighbors claimed a vendetta but Fortis said he only carried a shotgun to kill a dog that bit a pig. He admitted drinking corn whiskey and the mayor set 25 dollars plus costs as the fine.

Aged Sterling Resident Alfred Glessner Dies at 83
Alfred Glessner died Wednesday morning at his home in Sterling at age 83 after a period of declining health. Funeral services are planned for Friday at his Sterling home with burial in Seville cemetery. He had lived in Sterling for about 30 years, moving from town, and is survived by seven children, a brother, and a sister.

Gerda Sentenced to Life for Second Degree Murder
Paul Gerda, who killed Jura Kri vokuty near Doylestown in November 1917, was found guilty of second degree murder at Wooster. Judge Graven of Ashland county imposed life imprisonment, and Gerda was sent to the Ohio penitentiary in Columbus to begin serving.
