Wayne County Tax Rates Rise to Support Larger Public Value

Volume XII Number 28 notes Wayne County will see a higher tax rate next year as total taxes rise due to larger valuations. The Ohio Boxboard Company adds to real estate value, boosting the 1924 real estate figure to 46 736 166 from 44 801 299 and lifting overall tax revenue by about 2 854 720 from 1923. Public utilities total 28 742 700 for 1924 versus 23 048 380 in 1923, with banks and corporations also contributing larger sums and individuals near 17110 700 versus 17 860 41u.

Father of Mrs John Branigan Succumbs in Wadsworth

David Morrison aged about 74 years, father of Mrs John Branigan, died at Wadsworth Municipal Hospital after being brought from the Branigan home following acute indigestion. He had been living with his daughter near Sharon Center and his funeral was held at Hilliard and Son funeral home in Wadsworth Saturday afternoon.

Seventh-A and Eighth-C Grades Entertained

Miss Storey and Miss Wertz entertained the 7 A and C grade students from seven to ten thirty Saturday night March 21 at the home of Mrs. Aaron Wolfe. The evening featured games and music with special selections by Kathyrn Bender Maxim e Kime Eloise Schar Esther Spade Gladys Cuz and Celia Harpster. Tests on Mrs Blanche Tobias Continue at Welfare Dept

Mrs Blanche Tobias undergoes further mental tests by the welfare department to help officials decide her institutional placement. She was previously tried in Wayne County for suspected murder of her child, but the case was not concluded and she was transferred for mental evaluation.

Training Camps Enroll Young Men In Wayne County

The Citizen's War Training Camps run by the U S Army enroll young men ages 18 to 24 at regular army posts for thirty days. Wayne Kurtz and C M T C men from this area have completed enrollment in Wayne County. last year Wayne Kurtz and William Hera enrolled here. The War Department has conducted these camps for four years and many have benefited from the free training.

Study Club Formed in Bitman

A group of nine women formed the Ola Podrida Club in Bitman after charter members signed on. Officers were elected and committees appointed for a year. The next meeting will be at Mrs Harold Brookewood's home with current events and readings on the program.

Miss Vida Gardner Dies After Sudden Illness

Vida Gardner 17 daughter of Mr and Mrs Anthony Gardner died Sunday afternoon at her parents home after a brief illness described as flu pneumonia. She had been visiting her grandmother in Rittman and planned to go to Wooster last Saturday. Funeral services were held at St Ann's church on Wednesday at 9 am.

Miss Anna Maibach Dies in Ohio at 59

Anna Maibach born July 19 1865 in Schiesawyl Canton Bern Switzerland died March 31 1925 at home near Sterling aged about 60 after long residence in Monros and Wayne counties She came to the U S in 1867 with three brothers and two sisters Funeral services were held at the Apostolic Christian church two miles south of Rittman Ohio with distant relatives from Peoria Bay City Mansfield Akron and Youngstown in attendance.
