Rittman Garden Club gathered Friday evening at Mr and Mrs H Bren Nemans Sheldon Avenue with seventeen members and five guests. Mrs Earl Beck of Seville spoke on Herbs How To Grow and How To Use, followed by slides shown by Miss Mary Fixier Seville. Refreshments were served. next meeting set for April 16 at the Baldwin residence 15 South Fourth Street.
The Tuesday Contract Club gathered at the South Main Street residence of Mrs. M. E Stilwill for an evening of bridge. High scorers were Mrs. Ralph Overholt and Mrs. G. H. Steele, with plans announced to meet in two weeks at Mrs. Robert Hickin’s home on South Main Street.
Mrs. V. A. Garver will host a Presbyterian Missionary Interest Circle meeting at her South Third street home next Monday evening. Supper guests last Thursday for Mr. and Mrs. Delane Bowman included Orlando and Mrs. Samuel Trent of Camp Lee Virginia. Mr. Beecher Mobic underwent an operation at Wadsworth Hospital on Wednesday morning.
Miss Betty Wertz of Farm Bureau Columbus visits her parents Mr and Mrs O C Wertz and awaits Marine training call. Amasa B E Williams and wife return to Dark Harbor Maine after winter with Pyam Williams. Johnny Franks son of Mrs Charles Ruble hospital bound after appendectomy at Wadsworth. N D Blough of Smithville visits daughter Nelson Sheets family. Cpl Stanford Ballard back to Fort Lewis after 15 day furlough with mother and wife. Miss Margaret Brophy weekend guest in Cleveland. S/Sgt Marvin Bauman and son return to Camp Edwards Massachusetts after 10 days with Sam Bauman and Clayton Hoover. Grace Kamp visits brother Pvt Fréd Kamp at Fort Hayes. Sunday dinner guests Mr and Mrs Nelson Sheets host George Johnson and family and Earl Scholls family of Cleveland. Friends of Charles Crowell learn they are today.

The First Brethren Church outlines Sunday School at 2 30 pm led by Bro C C Moomaw and morning worship at 10 30 am with the Shepherd Psalm. Evening service at 7 30 pm features Gods Majesty. On March 31 at 7 30 pm the Students League of Many Nations from Practical Bible Training School will perform in national costumes with translations. The event is open to the public. Prayer meeting Friday night at the Emmet Adams home on Industrial Street.

The Girls Octet of Rittman High School directed by David Plank will sing Sunday at 7 45 a m on radio station WAKER in Akron. The program is sponsored by the Baptist church. Last Sunday evening the group sang at the First Brethren church.

Donald E Stepfield 22 son of MMF and Mrs Eugene Stanfield of Doylestown promoted from private first class to corporal while in Midland Texas. He serves with the bombardier training squadron at the Army Air Force Bomb School and handles tabulation and analysis. A Doylestown High School and Barbario ton School of Commerce graduate, he was employed in accounting at Selberling Rubber before enlisting and recently visited home on furlough.
