Rittman High Band Prepares for Kent Festival Trip
The Rittman High School band leaves Friday at 7:30 a.m. for Kent University to compete in the Northeastern Ohio Competitive Music Festival. Frederick Fibbs directs the group which will perform Colorado Concert March King and I and Midnight Overture along with two reading numbers. New uniforms will be worn as the band competes in class with schools under 250 pupils. no awards are given but ratings are assigned by the festival sponsored by the Music Teachers Association. One band will be taken to Kent in private years.

Roy Stype Named Clerk of Courts by County Board
Roy W Stype of Wooster was named clerk of the county courts by the board of county commissioners to replace the late Wellington Webb who died last Saturday. Funeral services were conducted Tuesday afternoon for N. W. Hower 90 who died Saturday at his Doylestown home after a two weeks illness. Rev George W Dittmar officiated at F A Frase funeral home. Burial was in Chestnut Hill cemetery. Hower born September 5 1848 in Copley Ohio. He belonged to the Lutheran church and Beacon lodge 268 IOOF. Survivors include wife Carrie Hower three sons Willard Doylestown George Miami Fla and Ralph Bessemer Ala one daughter Ruth Ives Miami Fla, five grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
