Indians Ousted From Tournament by Lowellville 59 35

Lowellville upended Rittman 59 to 35 in the third round as Stephen son led the winners with 17 points. Sparks paced Rittman with 22, Milford 13, Stefanica and Rosenberg 10 each. Norton had earlier fallen to Milford 70 55.

Rittman High Indians unveil nine game 1947 football schedule

Superintendent W H Hauenstein released the tentative 1947 football schedule for the Rittman High Indians. Nine games are slated with four at home. The list includes Canal Fulton Medina Orrville Mansfield Madison Greensburg Loudonville Doylestown Wadsworth Millersburg, with dates in September October and November.

Flu Outbreak Triggers Rising School Absences

A flu wave hits the school this week causing many absences. On Monday 151 students and two teachers were out. by Tuesday 169 students and three teachers were absent. Most absences occur in the upper grades. no school closure unless numbers rise, says Superintendent W H Haustenstein.

Report shows Red Cross solicitors have collected 563.85 of the 1000 unofficial goal for Rittman. Campaign ends March 15 at W. W. Bodager Agency. All solicitors to submit reports by March 15 if possible.

School Board Votes New Bond Issue

The board approved a bond sale of 414000 in 1000 denomination bonds and discussed site pricing led by John Baldwin and Leonard Over. Plans include a larger play area per pupil and summer work at schools with renovations and new equipment. Easter Monday and Good Friday will be vacation days for students.

A son Warren Randel was born to Mr. and Mrs. Warren Hooser at Lodi Hospital on March 5. Mrs. Hooser was the former Oneida First. An 8 lb 8 oz son arrived for Mr. and Mrs. William Moore at their Salt Street home on March 2. A son was born to Mr. and Mrs. Forrest Uhler of Sterling at Wadsworth Hospital on the evening of March 9.

Geitgey Named Editor and Manager of The Rittman Press

Ivin Geitgey of Wooster will become full time editor and advertising manager of The Rittman Press on Tuesday March 18. He has served in the Army and worked as advertising manager and editor in other publications. He will reside in town and dedicate himself to community service.

Shadle to Face Easton Painters March 18 in Norwalk Match

William Kaage Dies in Chicago at 32

William Kaage 32, of Chicago formerly with Ohio Boxboard Co. accounting department, died Wednesday afternoon after seven weeks of illness. He worked for Pure Milk Co. in Chicago. He is survived by his wife Laila and two sons.

Scout Sponsors Drive Surpasses Goal With $1188 Total

The Rittman Scout Organization's second annual fund drive raised 1188.79 in cash with $9.50 in pledges, surpassing a $900 goal. Auditors Don Jones and Len Over reported to Drive Chairman F. O. Kanehl at City Hall, with five canvassing teams led by Mrs. John Winkler and others. Contributions may still be given to any team member or to the treasurer.
