School operetta set for April ninth presentation

Local firms join payroll defense bond plans

R C Can company and Marion Reserve Power company add their names to Rittman industries backing voluntary payroll defense bond plans. Merion Reserve Power reports 100 percent participation and 354 workers in the program with deductions for bonds. RC Can employees form a Birthday Club with 30 of 40 workers enrolled, buying $25 bonds for each member’s birthday. Bechtel Rites Held Thursday Dies Monday

Funeral services for Mary Alice Bechtel 64 were held Thursday at 2 pm at her Grant street residence. She died Monday afternoon at home. Scheetz Sent to Florida Naval Base from Newport

Raymond Scheetz, former Kroger store manager and son of Geo. H Scheetz of Seville, was transferred from the Naval Training Station Newport Rhode Island to Pensacola Florida. He will join a ground crew of the flying squadrons at the Pensacola base.

Strickland Garage Opens Saturday on East Ohio Avenue

The new Strickland Garage on East Ohio Avenue will formally open on Saturday March 14. The 9000 square foot facility features modern repair equipment plumbing heating lighting and fixtures. Strickland invites the public to tour the plant Saturday afternoon and evening with gifts for several visitors and a souvenir for all attendees.

Births at Wadsworth Municipal Hospital

A daughter Barbara Ann was born to Mr and Mrs Linton Numbers last Friday night March 6 at Wadsworth Municipal Hospital. Twins a boy and a girl were born to Mr and Mrs Steve Melich Saturday morning March 7 at the hospital. A 10 ounce boy was born this morning March 12 to Mr and Mrs Herman King. Mrs King is the former Mildred Hessidence.

Sugar Ration Book Allocation For Wayne County

Wayne County will receive 56 080 sugar ration books with 5 400 allotted to Rittman and 5 350 to Orrville along with other center allocations. Distribution by 11 local rationing boards bases on school population estimates and area needs, with extra copies at each center to cover possible demand.
