District No 2 notes show Friday evening entertainment by Mr E A Meyer and pupils. Homer Blatter led to a spelling contest while Russell Clapper took views of the school exhibit at Milton Getter. High School to stage a literary program Friday afternoon. Faith Hobart visited home near Creston Saturday. Milton township teachers meet February 27 at J C Meyer home with Brilhart and Leighty absent. Essays of Van Dyke to be studied next. Susie Wright visited Painsville Saturday and Sunday.

Milton Township Spelling Contest Draws Wide School Support
The annual spelling contest at Milton Center drew delegates from all township schools including Rittman village. Winners in the seventh and eighth grade written test were Gladys Milford Roy Blough and Clyde Hentzel of Rittman with 94 percent, followed by a close second. The fifth and sixth grade written test pennant went to district No. 7 led by Mine Bedager Eimer Titty and Arthur Bedinger with 91 percent, while Frank Blough Selma Winkler and Melvit Ritter of No. 2 placed second. The oral tests produced a tie between Rittman and No. 9 for seventh and eighth grades, with No. 9 winning pennant No. 3. 100 percent scorers included Wendal Long Alpha Beery and Mida Steele.
