Rittman to Honor Revolutionary War Hero Fritz with Memorial
The Rittman VFW installs a 24 hour flag, bronze plaque, and fence at Martin Fritz grave in Pioneer Cemetery funded by a 1200 dollar project. A flagstone path from the Bicentennial Homestead site will mark America’s 200th birthday as dedication ceremonies are planned later this year. Fritz fought for Virginia under Washington, rode with him across the Delaware, endured Valley Forge, and witnessed Cornwallis surrender.

An Iron Curtain refugee from Hungary, now an American citizen, will speak July 2 during the pageant I Love America at the Middle School. Mrs Charlotte Marky of Tallmadge, who escaped from Hungary in 1957, will share her experiences and the meaning of United States citizenship.

School Board Okays New Pee Wee Contract in Rittman
The Rittman Board of Education approved a five year agreement with the Rittman Pee Wee Golden Eagles and Falcons Football Organization. It governs use of the varsity football field and high school practice fields, sets nightly and daytime usage fees, and limits Pee Wee activity to specified games and schedules. The pact, effective July 1, 1976, includes trash pickup after games and annual review procedures, with termination by mutual consent on July 1 any year. The board also authorized continued ITV ITV television programs in classrooms through WNEO WEAO.
