Small Towners Triumph and Troll in Key Baseball Tilt

The Rittman ball team defeated Wooster in an evenly played game at the ball diamond last Sunday. An umpire decision sparked a taunt from a visiting fan about facing a “small town team.” Rittman led 8 to 9 in the 11th inning after a late surge, following past wins over Wadsworth and strong pitching by Sehaad.

Milk truck driver Injured in prenoon explosion

Eddie Gigandet, milk truck driver for TM M S&S, was found with a bandaged head after an explosion damaged his vehicle near his home. He was examined by medical staff and expected to return to work soon.

Smile night draws lively crowd in Grange event

June 15 Grange gathering featured jokes, stunts, and music on human piano keys. A short play titled Spriggins Quiet Afternoon about married couples entertained the audience, with plans for a follow up by local married members and a talk on Ohio’s ten worst weeds by Kenry Wirth.

Chautauqua Dates Set. Redpath Rep Incoming to Rittman

The local Chautauqua association reports July 28 to August 1 as the five day program with plans for an active campaign led by Redpath advance agent E. Am Pritchard. He will deliver season tickets and bring outdoor ads for the event. The lineup features Cappy Ricks as the premiere comedy drama and two band concerts among humor romance and intrigue.

Snell Dam Seizes Moment As They Wed In Parish Ceremony

Friends announce the marriage of Miss Henrietta Helen Snell daughter of Mr and Mrs Snell of this town to Mr Leo Adams son of Mrs Flora Adams of Rittman. Former Sterling Boy Receives Honorary Degree

The Rev Platte Amstutz of Covenant Presbyterian Church Detroit was awarded an honorary LDRD by the College of Wooster at commencement. An Wooster alumnus and longtime minister, he is described as a former Sterling boy, son of Mr and Mrs I F Vinstutz, and honored for his continued ministry work.

Wand Concert Attracts Large Summer Crowd

The Tuesday band concert drew the largest crowd of the summer with streets crowded by pedestrians and machines. The band showed marked improvement and leader Mr Amstutz and members are congratulated for their effort. Next Saturday evening another concert will be held on the veranda of Sigler hotel. Several business men express satisfaction with the success of the Saturday concerts.

Officials of the N T and L C announced they expect to furnish Wadsworth with power by July 15. Plans are in place to rush completion and the new current will be in use in Wadsworth no later than July 15.

Injured Man Hurt In Barn Fall On Sterling Avenue

A man employed in rag and iron business fell through the hay loft at the Mary Horst barn on Sterling avenue last Friday. He sustained torn ligaments in the right leg and other injuries, and was taken to his home for medical care. He will be incapacitated for several months.

The annual Petit family reunion was held at the Howard Slemmons home near Sterling on Saturday with about 250 attendees. Arthur Goff’s family was elected president and Mrs Ernest McDonnell secretary, with Mrs Peter Petit treasurer for the coming year.

Bert Gordon Recovering After Regional Accident

Bert Gordon suffered scalp injuries in an accident at Mualust crossing when a machine collided with an Erlo imin. He has left the Wadsworth Community Hospital and is on the road to recovery bringing encouraging news to his family.
