The Rittman ball team defeated Wooster in an evenly played game at the ball diamond last Sunday. An umpire decision sparked a taunt from a visiting fan about facing a “small town team.” Rittman led 8 to 9 in the 11th inning after a late surge, following past wins over Wadsworth and strong pitching by Sehaad.
Eddie Gigandet, milk truck driver for TM M S&S, was found with a bandaged head after an explosion damaged his vehicle near his home. He was examined by medical staff and expected to return to work soon.
June 15 Grange gathering featured jokes, stunts, and music on human piano keys. A short play titled Spriggins Quiet Afternoon about married couples entertained the audience, with plans for a follow up by local married members and a talk on Ohio’s ten worst weeds by Kenry Wirth.
City council meeting covered a new disposal plant plan for a population of 1000, a storm and sanitary sewer project north of Oldoav, and upgrades on Sterling avenue. A committee will report on a combined boiler and fuel storage solution while a change in street lighting cycle is debated with the Wooster city solicitor.
Announcement reports the marriage of Pauline Bienilinu to Louis William Mable in Cleveland on a Saturday. Miss Bienilinu is a teacher and musician from West Salem. Mr Mable is a Penn graduate and chemist. They plan a three week honeymoon traveling through several destinations.
The local Chautauqua association reports July 28 to August 1 as the five day program with plans for an active campaign led by Redpath advance agent E. Am Pritchard. He will deliver season tickets and bring outdoor ads for the event. The lineup features Cappy Ricks as the premiere comedy drama and two band concerts among humor romance and intrigue.
Friends announce the marriage of Miss Henrietta Helen Snell daughter of Mr and Mrs Snell of this town to Mr Leo Adams son of Mrs Flora Adams of Rittman. The ceremony last Saturday at the parsonage was conducted by Rev W N Barton. The couple, both employed at the Onfo Salt Co, will reside locally after a brief wedding trip.
The Rev Platte Amstutz of Covenant Presbyterian Church Detroit was awarded an honorary LDRD by the College of Wooster at commencement. An Wooster alumnus and longtime minister, he is described as a former Sterling boy, son of Mr and Mrs I F Vinstutz, and honored for his continued ministry work.
The Tuesday band concert drew the largest crowd of the summer with streets crowded by pedestrians and machines. The band showed marked improvement and leader Mr Amstutz and members are congratulated for their effort. Next Saturday evening another concert will be held on the veranda of Sigler hotel. Several business men express satisfaction with the success of the Saturday concerts.
Officials of the N T and L C announced they expect to furnish Wadsworth with power by July 15. Plans are in place to rush completion and the new current will be in use in Wadsworth no later than July 15.
A man employed in rag and iron business fell through the hay loft at the Mary Horst barn on Sterling avenue last Friday. He sustained torn ligaments in the right leg and other injuries, and was taken to his home for medical care. He will be incapacitated for several months.
The annual Petit family reunion was held at the Howard Slemmons home near Sterling on Saturday with about 250 attendees. Arthur Goff’s family was elected president and Mrs Ernest McDonnell secretary, with Mrs Peter Petit treasurer for the coming year.
Tuesday evening this week several couples of the younger married set traveled to Chippewa Lake to enjoy the large dance floor. A good number from Wadsworth attended the event as well.
A fragment notes young male workers at the Ohla Salt Co weighing around 220 to 223 pounds each, with an aggregate of 610 pounds among three. It mentions three girls whose combined weight reaches 533 pounds and hints at age and weight details being sensitive or undisclosed.
The Wayne County Council of Boy Scouts will not camp at Pers-Wee Hollow this year. They will camp for 10 days at Sandy Beach, the site used in prior years. Scout Executive B R O Liebich attended the meeting and urged outdoor work, with Leader Brakewood now in charge after W O Stauffer’s resignation.
Bert Gordon suffered scalp injuries in an accident at Mualust crossing when a machine collided with an Erlo imin. He has left the Wadsworth Community Hospital and is on the road to recovery bringing encouraging news to his family.

A group including C J Hil ty Wo Hurbage Walter Kean and Clarence Bruny left on J Hhlty to travel to Canada for an annual party trip. The journey aims to points to Canada and reports indicate some landing difficulties with the crew.
Mrs Platter, who suffered a severe eye injury last week, is reported to be rapidly recovering. She remains at Wardeworth Community Hospital where friends hope she will soon be fully restored.
Mr and Mrs Plattor express thanks for kindness and sympathy shown after Mia Platter’s injury. They acknowledge the beautiful support from friends and the many thoughtful acts and say they will remember it always.
Consumers owning homes and charged 260 by the Cleveland Southwestern and Columbus Railway Co for home electricity installation must report their names to the village clerk. The notice lists Harry A Floffolman as an example.
The ladies of St Ann's Church plan a bake sale at the Jule Stalner building on Salist next Saturday. Proceeds support church activities and outreach programs.
The new Methodist church at Le Roy will be dedicated next Sunday to replace the building destroyed by fire on Nov 12, 1921. Four days of events follow the Sunday services at 10 30, 2 30, and 7 30 with a cantata Thursday evening. Special music accompanies all services and free meals are served after Sunday worship.
The Brethren church ladies announce a bake sale this Saturday afternoon at Ruekel grocery sorp. Proceeds support church missions and community programs in the area.

Mr and Mrs M Spade with Mr Byron Summersot of Akron left Monday for a fishing trip to Danbury Ohio. Reports say the lake offers good fishing and the party will likely return Friday or Saturday with news of their success.
Rigging is complete and drilling gear moved in on the Fredrick farm just outside the village limits for the D. L. Fredrick Well No 1. Investors are optimistic and expect strong returns as drilling should begin next week.
