Buckeye Garden Club Beautifies Library Entrance With Cacti Display
Buckeye Garden Club led by Mrs. Herbert Willems planted a cactus and succulent display at the Rittman Public Library entrance using earth and materials by club members. The exhibit features diverse species including opuntia, hedgehog barrel, spirit-like plants, starfish flower, hens and chickens and sedum. Mrs. Willems warns visitors about cactus spines and notes that while all cacti are succulents, not all succulents are cacti. The club also carried out a separate civic beautification project at Old Knapp's Church.

Simonton Promoted To Production Superintendent
Robert Simonton, longtime Rittman Press employee since 1936, rises from plant foreman to production superintendent for Lindsey Press Inc. He will oversee newspaper production, supervise printing operations, and assist Publisher Lindsey Williams. Simonton started as a printer's devil at 15 and later became foreman in 1960 after Williams bought the Press. He and his wife Virginia reside at 80 Greenwood Street.

The Wayne County Joint Vocational School plans to purchase carpentry equipment for 3625 dollars and data processing gear for 13900 dollars before its September 1969 opening. Mrs Dysinger’s Mother Dies After Long Illness
Mrs. Ethel B. Rossman aged 70 died June 11 after a long illness. She was mother to Mrs Frances Dysinger and Mrs Grace Lawrence of Wadsworth with whom she resided. Burial was in Wadeworth.

RDS to Move to Shop Center in Late Summer
Rittman’s first and only department store will relocate from the city square to the Rittman shopping center this summer. Kenneth and Kathleen Moore West, current owners, say the new 4000 square foot store will feature a large men’s department and expanded ladies wear and will be renamed West’s, preserving quality merchandise and adding new lines.

Booster Club Plans Cookout to Fund Locking Machine
The Booster Club met at the JA Building with eight members. They considered purchasing a locking machine for about $695 and discussed fundraising. Berkey Couple Win Carni-Fair Trophy
