Grangers gathered in hot weather for a meeting in 1926 with tea ice cream at Ezra Steiners home. The class received third and fourth degrees but further work postponed due to heat. The Lecture Tour featured Mrs Kanengeiser and A G Sheets. Recitations by George Steele and Dwight Mills were enjoyed.
Two women from Belfast Ireland arrive in Rittman to live with their son and brother Hugh O Neil a factory worker. Wael O Neil and Miss O Neil will make their home with him in Rittman after renting rooms from Anton Wolfe.
Street work on Salt street stalls this week as contractor Trippeer waits for cement and gravel. arrival date uncertain, delaying foundation for paving brick up to two weeks or 30 days. Rittman Savings Bank block construction advances with brick walls to begin soon. Several residences around town push steadily toward occupancy before fall.
Mrs Ward Carter was struck by lightning while on her porch on West First Street across from the Markel home. She was knocked down and paralyzed with limited movement in her left hand, condition at report uncertain but hoped to improve with time.

A Tide Water and Pipe Line truck collided with James Galehouse’s sedan in the Square at 2 15 P M Thursday. Minor damage to fenders and door occurred on Galehouse’s car. no injuries were reported. Galehouse’s car traveled north on Main Street from 8 Main Street when the truck turned around in the Square attempting to go south.

Harry Smith a former Ohio Boxboard Co unload ing department worker died in a dentist chair in Ashland on June 6 after receiving anesthesia. He had moved to Ashland from Rittman in March and left no clear relatives. The M W A members cared for the body and arranged a vault burial. No next of kin information could be found, and an insurance policy named a distant relative as beneficiary but provided no funds for burial.
