Three Arts Club Raises 83 Dollars for Library Benefit
On June 4 Mrs. Ralph Gwaltney hosted the Three Arts Club with 19 members and four guests. The group reported 83 dollars earned at a May 26 City Hall Library Benefit and vowed to buy more books for the public library. Esther Bruny announced her committees for next year. Mary Ethel Cummings opened with a historian's poetics report and Mary Beach of Medina gave a guest talk about a trip to Wrangell Alaska.

Chicks Saved in Early Morning Fire at Gar Ner Farm
Fire at five o clock Sunday destroyed the chicken house of James Garner east of town. Several flocks for customers were ruined but a Rittman man saved 99 chicks from the burning facility. Mrs. Ernest Harrison left Wednesday for a visit with her mother and sister in London. Miss Ann Harrison had been in Wooster with her grandmother and joined her mother in London.

Vacation Bible School Opens For 120 Children
One hundred twenty children aged four to 14 began a two week Daily Vacation Bible School. A union effort by several churches, with Clara Hawkins as dean and teachers for Intermediates Juniors and Beginners. Morning devotions led by area ministers. Program runs Monday to Friday 9:00 to 11:30 am with a closing Friday picnic scheduled for June 15.

Fugitive Benjamin Franklin Fix Captured in Sterling Trap
Benjamin Franklin Fix, 51, wanted for manslaughter in Monroeville, Huron County, was captured Tuesday in Sterling after a sheriff's trap. He briefly detained at the Sterling post office, then cornered by Justice Glenn Zigler, Constable Glessner, I W M aim bach, and the sheriff's staff. He was unarmed and offered no strong resistance.

Mrs. Albert Carpenter dies at 66 in Rittman
Mrs. Albert Carpenter aged 66 died at 12 30 am last Friday at her home 90 South Second Street after a month of illness. She is survived by her husband formerly employed at the Ohio Boxboard Company and a daughter who preceded her in death in 1928. She belonged to the Womens Missionary Society of the United Brethren Church. Rev W E Price pastor conducted Sunday services at 2 at Ebert Funeral Home and burial followed in Rittman cemetery.

Sugar Rations May Be Issued On Emergency Basis
