Postmaster Seville May Be Reimbursed for Stolen Stamps
Senator Burton introduces a bill to reimburse John A Lowrie postmaster at Seville 13990 dollars worth of postal savings stamps stolen from his office. The shortage highlights a defect in the postal savings bank system as no current provision covers such losses. Bondsmen and the postmaster face personal liability for all stamps in possession and relief would require a special act of Congress.
